2002-2003 GRAB Student Conference Scholarship
Application Guidelines

EAHR and GRAB want to encourage graduate students in the department, who are currently TAMU employees, to pursue and present scholarly work. Scholarship funds have been established to help students for this purpose.

Scholarship: Scholarship funds will be awarded on a competitive basis to applicants only after they have submitted the GRAB Student Conference Scholarship Application along with the required supporting documents. Click here to print out an application form.

Application Steps:

  1. Complete the GRAB Student Development Scholarship Application (see back of this page).
  2. Submit a brief letter of request (not to exceed 350 words) that explains how your development and the mission of the EAHR Department will be furthered by attending and/or presenting at this particular conference. The relevance of your attending and/or presenting at this conference should be made clear in your letter.
  3. If you are presenting at the conference, please attach proof of acceptance to your letter.

Criteria: Application packets for scholarship monies will be reviewed and approved based on the following criteria:

bulletTAMU Employee
bulletSingle and first author presentations
bulletFirst time conference attendee (i.e. have never been sponsored by GRAB during academic career)
bulletInternational (held in the U.S.A.) and national conferences
bulletSecond, third, (etc.) authors
bulletRegional and local conferences
bulletConference attendees

In the event that GRAB receives applications in excess of the funds available, the criteria above will be used to determine which applicants will receive scholarship awards and/or to prorate the award amounts.

Review of applications: GRAB will review scholarship applications once per month. Applications may be submitted for conferences with dates in the previous, current, or next semester.

Initial scholarship awards will be approved for one conference per person. Additional funding may be awarded for a second conference per person if funds remain after each eligible applicant has received funding for a first conference. There is a $600 cap per academic year.

A hard copy of the completed application must be submitted to Marie Shelfer before the scheduled review.
